Dermapen is a medically engineered device that utilises 12 surgical grade micro needles to deliver effective skin needling.

Microneedling is mostly used on the face and may treat various scars, wrinkles, and large pores. Various other conditions such as ageing, wrinkles, ultraviolet damage, hypopigmentation, scarring, stretch marks can see an improvement with dermapen microneedling.

Generalised rejuvenation can be achieved in as little as 3 treatments. Conditions such as scarring and stretch marks may require a minimum of 5 sessions. Depending on the condition being targeted, treatments are performed on average every 4-8 weeks.

Localised redness may last up to 2 days post treatment. Make-up may be used 24 hours post procedure to reduce any visible redness. Most patients can resume normal activities immediately after treatment.

Who will carry out the treatment?
Injectable treatments are only carried out by doctors or nurse prescribers who are all fully trained and experienced in injectables. Before your first treatment in the clinic, you will be required to have a consultation with either a nurse prescriber or doctor.

How long does it last for?
Typically, it should last for up to three months.

How long before effects of the treatment can be seen?
Usually results can be seen after a few days however it can take up to 14 days to see the full effects of the treatment.

Is this treatment safe?
Botulinum Toxin as a muscle relaxant has an excellent safety record and a long record of use in medicine. It has been used successfully in adults and children in a variety of medical conditions over the last 20 years. It has been used cosmetically to treat facial wrinkles for about 15 years and has become one of the most popular and frequently used cosmetic treatments.

Are there any side effects?
In most cases there will be no side effects to a treatment. However, because everybody’s physiology is different, people can be affected in different ways. A small minority of people report the following symptoms:
Bruising - For the majority of patients, the area of injection will appear no different. For a small minority, some minor bruising may occur.
Bumps - A few minutes after treatment small bumps may be visible on the skin. These will disappear very quickly.
Headache - Temporary headache is the most commonly reported symptom following anti-ageing injections, though the numbers of patients who report headaches is very small compared with the amount of treatments performed. Any headache can be treated with standard painkillers.

All possible side effects will be discussed with you during your consultation.

What happens when it wears off?
Once it wears off, your muscles will function as they did before the treatment. This means that the wrinkles you smoothed or reduced will slowly begin to appear again; no new wrinkles will have been formed due to the treatment, you will simply be witnessing old wrinkles reappearing.

Can I keep having treatment?
Yes, botulinum toxin does not ‘build up’ or accumulate in your system. It is recommended that treatments are scheduled at about 12-16 weeks. Once the effects have worn off, it is safe for you to top up treatments in the same area. It is also perfectly safe to have multiple treatments in different areas at the same time.
